It was late evening as Kathryn and Chakotay sat stretched out in front of the blazing log fire, the gentle glow the only source of light in the room. Chakotay had his back propped up against the couch, with Kathryn comfortably settled between his legs, her back leaning against his chest.

"Okay, now place your finger in the middle, on top of the knot I just made," Kathryn said, guiding Chakotay with her voice.

Chakotay did as she asked, holding the coloured ribbon firmly in place so it wouldn't move. He watched over Kathryn's shoulders as she put the finishing touches on the bow, another present wrapped.

"That's it, you can take your finger away now," she said, and put it beside the others.

"Kathryn, don't you think it's time we took a break? We've been doing this for ages," Chakotay asked hopefully.

"Not just yet, it's only 6 days till Christmas, and there's still plenty left to wrap. Anyway, we've not been doing this for ages, I have," she answered.

"How do you expect me to concentrate on wrapping presents with you sitting right in front of me?" he teased, "Anyway, I did help."

"Yes, you did," she smiled, "But you stopped half an hour ago and have been watching me ever since."

"As I said, I couldn't concentrate," and he emphasised the point by wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer to him. She sighed when she felt his fingers move her hair aside and his lips gently brushed her neck.

"Hmm, Chakotay, if you help for another half hour, I promise I'll make it worth your while," Kathryn hinted, desperately trying not to succumb to his touch.

She felt him smile against her skin, and knew she had managed to ensure that at least a few more presents would be wrapped that night. And just in time, his lips were very distracting.

"That's bad Kathryn, very bad," he paused but then continued, "but how can I refuse?" and he kissed her quickly before moving to sit in front of her.

He picked up an unwrapped present, reached for some paper then looked up at Kathryn. They smiled at each other, seeing the love clearly displayed in the other's eyes, and began thinking of what they would be unwrapping later that night.
