In the middle of pouring a cup of coffee for himself and Kathryn, Chakotay stopped, sincerely hoping that the sounds coming from the living room didn't mean what he thought they did.

He listened carefully, coffee pot suspended in mid-air, unconsciously crossing his fingers as he waited with bated breath.

But his hopes were soon dashed when the familiar strains of a Christmas carol floated into the kitchen. He sighed, shaking his head as an, "Oh no," slipped past his lips, but couldn't stop a smile gracing his face.

Chakotay finished pouring the coffee then headed back to the living room. He walked into the room to find Kathryn standing by the Christmas tree, humming along to a carol playing in the background.

"Kathryn," he began, "Are you trying to drive me crazy?"

"What?" she replied turning to face him, a puzzled look on her face.

"I've lost count of all the times you've played those carols. Couldn't we listen to something different for a change?" Chakotay asked, as he passed Kathryn her coffee.

"These are the songs we always listened to when I was a little girl. And anyway, they're..."

"Traditional," they chorused together.

Kathryn took the cup with a grin. "Don't you like them Chakotay?"

"Well yes, I do, or rather I did. But the novelty tends to wear off after the thousandth time."

"Chakotay, I haven't played them that many times," she said as they settled side by side on the couch.

Chakotay just paused, coffee cup half way to his open mouth, an incredulous look on his face.

"Oh of course not, it's just a coincidence that I can now recite nearly every traditional carol there is, *despite* the fact that I had heard very few before we listened to the carollers a couple of weeks ago."

Kathryn gave him a sheepish look over the rim of her coffee cup. "I'm afraid it's one of my little idiosyncrasies, playing songs I like over and over again. I'm sure you'll get used to it."

"I'm looking forward to it," he replied reaching for her. Kathryn moved towards him, nestling into his side, relishing the feel of having his arms wrapped around her.

"So, are there any other idiosyncrasies I should know about?" Chakotay asked.

He sensed rather than saw her smile as she replied, "You'll just need to wait and see. You have the rest of your life to find out."

"Yes, I do," he answered, bending to kiss the top of her head.
